Foreign Office to Treasury.
Foreign Office, July 20, 1905. WITH reference to my letter of the 5th instant, I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to transmit to you, for the information of the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, the accompanying copies of letters from the Glasgow and Liverpool Chambers of Commerce,* urging that the Chinese Government should be reminded of their obligations under Article II of the Anglo-Chinese Commercial Treaty of 1902 to provide for a uniform national coinage.
The Chambers of Commerce have been informed, in reply, that the matter is under consideration in consultation with the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury.
